INNOCENCE was one of the first great ambient soul bands of the nineties, spawning over seven hit records in U.K. & around Europe including the groundbreaking track NATURAL THING, also a hit in several countries around the world, and such timeless classics as SILENT VOICE, LET’S PUSH IT and MATTER OF FACT.
The album BELIEF was an award winning album and classed as one of the greats of its genre. Predominantly, produced and co-written by Anna Jolley, Brian Harris and Mark Jolley, the tracks from the album went on to be used for more than twenty major campaigns around the world including FIAT CARS, DISNEYWORLD and the BBC.
Gee Morris a.k.a. Innocence also co-wrote and co-produced several tracks on both Albums – Belief & Build, with Billy Osborne IV, Co-writes also with Toby Baker & Matt Rowe. The fantastic sound engineered by Phil Dane (co-write on Promise of Love).
The album, singles and compilations continues to sell as a back catalogue album/compilation and online.
Blessed with the success of 7 top 30 singles 3 of which were top 20 and a Gold album in the UK (Over 250,000 sales just in the U.K. alone)
Gee was invited to perform all over Europe especially popular in Germany – where Gee toured extensively, Holland, Portugal, France, Spain and Italy.
Success spilling over from Europe to Japan, Australasia and Africa. Innocence got a U.S. billboard rating for the second single ‘Silent Voice’ for which Gee was awarded the ‘Key To the City of New Jersey’ (U.S.A.) presented by the Mayor for their use of ‘Silent Voice’ track in their promotion for awareness of Aids & HIV. The Innocence album ‘Belief’ went on to sell over 3 million copies worldwide winning a Best Album of the Year award in 1990 and subsequently hailed as the forerunner to the ambient sound of the ‘90’s, inspiring subsequent bands such as Massive Attack and Leftfield.
