DES GRANT

Des Grant has played in some of the UK’s most prestigious venues for 30 years. He is currently Resident DJ and Head of Entertainment at the award-winning entertainment venue The Pines, Chorley, and main DJ for Butlin’s Soul & Motown nights. Headlining at Butlin’s has enabled Des to work with stellar stars of the past, including Rick Astley, Bananarama, Billy Ocean, Ray Lewis (Former Lead Singer of The Drifters), The Osmonds, Alexander O’Neal, The Real Thing and the Tavares. Des is well-known in his hometown of Preston for running charitable events, including Melanie’s Magic Wand Appeal, which he launched following the tragic loss of his daughter to a cancerous brain tumour. This raised over half a million pounds in 18 months and was used to buy space age equipment, making Preston the centre of neurology in Britain.

DJ to the Stars

For the past four years Des has been lucky enough to have worked with, and learned from, some of the UK’s biggest chart-toppers, from the consummate perfectionism of The Temptations, to the effervescent energy of Billy Ocean, it’s been a remarkable journey of entertainment for Des personally. As headline DJ at one of Britain’s best-loved and successful institutions, Butlin’s, Des has been responsible for injecting passion and excitement into their Soul, 70’s and theme nights, which now reach a crescendo involving over 4,000 revellers. His playlist includes classic retro tunes from a bygone era, especially the 70’s, 80s and 90s, with Des mixing and scratching tracks from the likes of the Fatback Band and Mark Morrison, and introducing artists such as Jocelyn Brown, M People and The Brand New Heavies to his set.

You can see Des and his celebrity line-ups at Skegness, Minehead, and Butlin’s flagship venue Bognor Regis.
